Week 24: Back to boring
I hope you all enjoyed Karl's bizarre story last week. Who knows how he comes up with these things? I wish I did, so I could make each blog entry as exciting as his. Until then, you're stuck with me. Haha! Well, we've got to send more congratulations out this week. After 10 years, Matt has finally asked Leslie to marry him! She obviously said yes. So, this makes one more couple to bite the dust. I guess this means two things: Karl's lies are starting to work. I guess Karl and I should leave the country more often. Then, I'd have a few more girlfriends on their way to wedded bliss.
Update on the football games for the last two weekends.
Two weeks ago Karl's team played the best team in the league, the Warriors. This team was undefeated with one tie and now it is undefeated with two ties! The final score was 6-6. The Warriors scored on the first drive and only came close one other time. The Blackhawks dominated the game, but we didn't score until the fourth quarter. We should have won, but at least we played well! Karl wasn't as positive and said that tieing is like kissing your sister. You get a kiss but it's your SISTER! This past weekend we won! We played the worst team in the league. The score was 42-0, but it would have been more if they hadn't of forfeited at half time. Too many guys got injured, and they only had 10 guys healthy enough to play. It's a win either way, and now we think we're in the top four. (You have to be in the top four to play in the championship.) Three more regular games!
A few other things have been going on. Our residence hosted a trivia night on Friday. Free drinks and trivia, who wouldn't have fun? Our team actually came in third out of almost 20 teams. I was useless except for one Shakespeare question, but Karl came through with pop culture and Carol with the science questions. We got bags of free candy. Just what I need! Karl as you can see from our pictures is practically wasting away at 206 lbs, but I promise I'm feeding him! It's not my fault he plays football and pushes shopping carts all day while I sit, write, and read for my thesis. Speaking of thesis, I finally met with my supervisor last week. It had only been 6 six weeks since I'd seen him. It's no surprise that he doesn't know what I'm doing. Oh, well, hopefully he'll approve of my plans b/c I've already starting writing. I've got 1,400 of the 12,000 words necessary for completion. I'm practically finished!
The only other exciting news is that my baby sister, Ashley, and her friend, Harper, are coming to see me on Saturday. I'm so excited! Now I've just got to plan what we're doing. All I know is that the blog will be a day late b/c they don't leave until Thursday am. I know you'll survive somehow. Well, that's about it, so I'm going to wrap things up with the.....
WORD OF THE WEEK
We're running out of ideas for this in spite of the rich material, so we're back to giving you guys just one word of the week. Today's word is arvo. It's pronounced ahv-o because they don't say their r's, and it is another word for afternoon. Anywho, hope you're having a lovely arvo!
Britt
P.S. Ignore the spelling and grammatical mistakes. Karl didn't much sleep last night, so he wants to get to bed early:)
